Office of Disability Services (ODS) set up at IIM Bangalore

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) on January 13, 2010 inaugurated an Office of Disability Services (ODS) to cater to the special needs of disabled students on campus. The ODS has been set up with the support of Mphasis Ltd, an HP company.

Animal research is suggesting new ways to aid recovery after spinal cord injury. New studies demonstrate that diet affects recovery rate and show how to make stem cell therapies safer for spinal injury patients. The findings were presented at Neuroscience 2009, the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.

Adult tissue stem cells

October 15, 2009 A team led by scientists from The Scripps Research Institute has developed a method that dramatically improves the efficiency of creating stem cells from human adult tissue, without the use of embryonic cells. The research makes great strides in addressing a major practical challenge in the development of stem-cell-based medicine.
